Problem Statement

Problem Statement

Our research revealed that many Zoomcar Hosts aren’t aware they need to create a listing to start receiving bookings. Additionally, they need more intuitive tools to manage their listings effectively.

Zoomcar offers features to make hosts life easier but is hidden in the flows, Many Hosts lack awareness that they can opt in/out for late night bookings, or auto extend their car’s availability for the booking.

First-time Hosts often don’t realise they need to renew listings after they expire, so they stop receiving bookings without knowing why.

Some Hosts, rather than pausing unavailable dates, create multiple listings excluding these dates — while others simply decline bookings on dates they’re unavailable, impacting their ratings and missed earning opportunities.

This confusion can lead to frustration and impact Host retention.

What is a Listing? How Does it Work for Hosts at Zoomcar?

What is a Listing? How Does it Work for Hosts at Zoomcar?

A listing is how Hosts make their car available for bookings. After onboarding a car, Hosts must select specific dates when the car will be bookable.

This process of setting dates for availability is called Creating a Listing.

To enhance visibility, for the first iteration we focused on displaying key listing information upfront, especially the status of the car listing on the Manage your cars tab on homepage and renamed it to Manage Car Listing.

There are four primary states:
- Live: The car is currently available for booking.
- Upcoming: The listing is set to start on future dates.
- Ending Soon: A prompt to renew, as the listing will end soon.
- Not Listed: The car isn’t available for bookings.

In reviewing the several iterations, we noticed that the homepage layout felt a bit unstructured:The Zoomcar logo is essential and needs prominent placement. The car selector could use improvement for a more intuitive experience.

To encourage Hosts to create listings, key controls should be displayed prominently.Additionally, a guided tour will help educate Hosts on the terminology and newly introduced features.

The Your Listing section was designed so that each listing state displays dynamic controls, with an info/redirection box offering relevant guidance based on the current state.

We identified that the Upcoming technically falls under Live — indicating the car is available for booking at the current time for future dates. Hosts primarily need clarity on whether the car is bookable or not.

New Approach: We’re differentiating between states and tags:

  • States: Live, Paused, Ended

  • Tags under Live state: Live, Upcoming, Ending Soon

Our Product Manager outlined approximately 40+ permutations to cover various host scenarios effectively.

This project began with a clear goal but evolved as we uncovered deeper insights. Each discussion challenged us to think creatively, leading to a more intuitive design that strengthens communication and support for our Hosts.

This project was completed with the help of Sukrit Mukherjee (Product Manager) and Mayur Ranka (Product Designer).
